“Frown and you Frown alone, but Smile and the whole world Smiles with you”! Not only does it makes you attractive but helps brighten up yours & someone’s day!

More muscles are actually needed to frown than to smile…..thus, to “keep away” the wrinkles, just Smile All The Way :) :) :)………

So Sit back, Unwind, Relax, Enjoy, Get tuned-in & Started and Forget about being Calculative & Worrying about the Nitty Gritty stuff but Appreciate & be Thankful for Who we are & What we have today by reflecting on the Simple Things in Life that gives us Little Reasons To Smile :)

RED ALERT........ RED ALERT!!

An episode on Sharks aired on a Local TV Channel totally caught my attention and served as a good wakening call, not to me alone but everyone.

Sharks are not spoken nor were we taught much about them but the little that we know is usually their ugly & terrifying side! Owing “gratitude” to movies such as Jaws for instance, sharks have been marked as BIG, MEAN & SCARY….leaving us with a bad impression but in actual fact, sharks are not as portrayed in the movies.

Everyone with a heart will be moved knowing that sharks are hunted only to harvest their highly priced fins; be it a baby or an adult shark. Fishermen around the world cruelly harvest those fins and let the shark rot to death either on land or thrown back into the sea.

To date, the population of sharks is facing serious threats especially The Great White Sharks where these magnificent creatures are slowly facing extinction if the harvesting continues on.

Shark fins soup is considered a delicacy especially in the Chinese community which is a dish “Prominent” at weddings, business meetings and other special occasions.

It is all a myth as to how serving shark fins soup helps rake in Profits & Businesses or highlighting one’s social status but the saddest part is that shark fins are tasteless when consumed on its own. Shark fins soup must be cooked with a lot more other ingredients for taste, the only thing it provides? A unique texture, that's about it.

It is said that if we don't eat sharks, they will eat us but if this is the case, why aren't humans facing extinction? Why are sharks dying & going extinct if they are out busy eating humans? If we were to compare the ratio of men eating shark and shark eating men, sharks are definitely on the losing end.

It is plain cruelty as sharks are killed just for that piece of dorsal fin.

Try putting yourselves in their shoes and  how scary would that be if people were after your arms, cutting them off & either throw you into the sea (where you can’t swim) or let you rot to death!

It is never too late to start; all you need to do is to spare a thought for our future generations because if this cause is not fought by us now, they might not even know what a shark is or looks like!

Even the Media & other Industries is doing their bit & Campaigning for these creatures such as Lite FM where it is said that up to 70 million sharks/yr can be saved. Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will also cease serving shark fin in all of its operated restaurants.

So, Take the Lead & Remember………

When The Buying Stops, The Killing Will Too!

WALK TILL YOU DROP

Sounds familiar but not to be literally taken as "Shop till you Drop" :)

We will all walk right on through childhood, adolescence, and into adulthood, but may have probably stopped walking so much somewhere along the line. In fact, the percentage of adults who spent most of their day sitting increased from 36.8% in 2000 to 39.9% in 2005!

Hectic, stressful life, life transformations from escalators to remote controls to riding lawn mowers to robotic vacuum cleaners are all contributors.

There are reasons to believe walking is good as proven in studies because it strengthens your heart, good for your brain & bones, reduces the risk of breast and colon cancer, improves fitness & physical function. A closer look at the picture below can stand attest & affirm the benefits of walking.

The sole of our feet is basically where the sensory touches as well as the organs are located & the heart is on the left foot. It is true that this is the termination end for the nerves connecting the organs which is why a Massage or Reflexology session helps relief aches & pains.

This is why we are made to walk, to be always pressing these pressure point & keeping our system activated throughout!

Keep Walking :) ………..

PAVEMENT DRAWINGS

The perspective of Art is widening, I’ve posted about Art being done on Paper as well as on Trucks but Julian Beever has expanded the scale……Pavement Drawings! The Drawings were given the illusion of being 3D while being done only on a flat ground by this English chalk artist.

Be Amazed &  Get “Ilusioned” with his works!

TRUCK ART

It is Arts in another form, on a Larger Scale, basically adorning the trailers of real trucks with Creative designs!

In 2005, a Rhino Rolling Advertising award was held in Germany where several individuals/ Companies took part in Displaying & Adorning their trucks with their Ads/ Designs!

Enjoy the photos of some of the real-life versions that were on display that night!

Pepsi cases stacked on the ceiling, making the bottom of the trailer look empty

The "inside" of the Pringles-Hot & Spicy trailer appears as though it has been “Fried”

An aquarium with fishes in it

A canvas tote bag

The driver has been painted in the driver's seat looking over his shoulder to appear like he's driving backwards

And Coming in 1st place that night………….was the Pepsi Design!

OrIgAmI

Recall our Younger Days of folding papers into various shapes and sizes as a favourite past-time? Well….if you don’t, this art is called ORIGAMI!

“ORI” means to fold & “KAMI” means paper, when put together, it is the wonder of it transforming from a flat sheet of material into a finished sculpture through paper folding without Cutting or Gluing! If cutting and gluing is needed, it is usually considered as “Kirigami”.

It is of Japanese origin but its not mere plain folding, rather, can be said as a unique sculptural art, containing both composition and performance as expressions of the art. The best known model we all know would most probably be the Japanese Paper Crane.

Being lighter than normal paper enables it to suit a wider range of models but “Washi” is the traditional origami paper used in Japan,  made from wood pulp & is tougher than normal paper but the easily available ones are coloured on one side and white on the other ranging from  2.5 cm – 25 cm.

An interesting story I happen to stumble upon is about Won Park, the “Master of Origami”, also dubbed as the "money folder"! He not only folds & does Origami with Money but his “house” is Great too as he lives in a converted garbage truck!
